Pros

I unexpectedly joined Nectar in 2021 despite having very little interest in moving to my third agency in 10 years. I had been at my previous agency for a long time and thought that it didn’t get much better and that in-house was the next move. Boy was I wrong… The concerns and frustrations that I had at my old agency were virtually eliminated and all the benefits remained. Now don’t get me wrong, client service is what it is, and there’s always going to be annoyances, but by far and away my workday has transformed. I credit a few factors: - Quality Clients: The clients that Nectar chooses to work with are trailblazers in their industries. They are brands that media want to engage with, that we can tell a strong story about and that have savvy PR people at their helm. I can’t tell you how important it is for an agency to be discerning about the clients they work with. A bad account has a domino effect on employees. If one account is overly demanding/difficult it takes away time from other teams and strains workloads - even if the billing looks “right.” - Compensation: I’ll be honest, this is what convinced me. Employees at Nectar are compensated fairly. We are given annual market adjustments and from what I hear people are happy with bonuses. Not to mention perks like free healthcare, unlimited vacation, wellness benefits and professional benefits help to sweeten the package. - Real deal: Tracy and Rachel (the founders) are real with clients. They are so smart and strategic and provide excellent counsel, so when the time comes to be honest about team bandwidth, push back on a request, tell someone their expectations are absurd etc. - they are ready and willing to do that. Their mentality is NOT “the client is always right” or even “the client may be wrong, but we’re in a service business”. This is refreshing and enables us to do our jobs intelligently and with respect. I am so grateful that I decided to take a leap of faith and join Nectar in 2021. I’m not a big proponent of agency hopping, but I see this move as catapulting my career forward and providing me with the experience, insight and relationships to go wherever I want in the future - but for now, I’m staying put :).

Cons

A couple minor things: - There's room to grow when it comes to integrated comms and digital expertise, but everyone is aware and we're taking steps to get there. - There are some internal processes that were fine when the company was smaller, that should probably be updated but this is also being worked on.

Pros

I worked at Nectar off and on for years, first as a full-time employee, and then as a contractor. I certainly wouldn't say that the work was easy -- it's a communications agency, which can mean long hours, weird hours, and client service conundrums. That said, I thoroughly enjoyed every employee that I worked with (and certainly wouldn't have lasted for as long as I did as a contractor if that wasn't the case!), and I appreciated that I honed some incredible skills that I still rely on as I continue my career.

Cons

As I said before, it's a communications agency. I worked some weird hours, BUT I do appreciate that they gave the weird hour projects to me as it enabled me to do more in my contract work.

Pros

Remote, 401K, access to newest technology/software

Cons

Toxic, mean girl culture; routine layoffs and no job security; strange “no boss” structure where decisions are made by votes; unstable client roster; incredibly high turn-over
