In this role, you'll get to write a wide variety of pieces on a lot of subjects and get to grow through being able to write them. It's a solid way to get used to the pace of working in a newsroom.

The pay is truly abysmal and the benefits are subpar. There's lots of driving involved with this role, including often covering government meetings late in the evenings. Don't expect your mileage to be adequately covered. Promotion is possible but it's chiefly done in-company and for whomever is most in favor with those at the top. True growth and mentoring is not a thing at this company.
