Pros

The company was founded on great ideals with great products. The founder, Laura Slatkin, clearly loves and believes in the brand, and her passion catches on with many of the old guard and the new. It is also located in a great Midtown area.

Cons

People are underpaid and overworked, and to hire actual quality employees (i.e. to be willing to pay for them) had been like pulling teeth. Many under-performing individuals were let go, which is good. Many high-performing individuals were driven away, which is bad. I watched great talent walk away because of one or two highly toxic executives who are still there. The former COO and an original employee has walked. A valued longtime finance executive, also. Strong and passionate sales leaders, a very smart e-commerce leader, PR staff, arts staff... There is little care for career development and for its people, and in the past couple years the new CEO has changed the company for the worse.

Pros

The senior executives at this company are experienced and well-known in the luxury home fragrance industry. The talent varies, but the good ones are great and the bad ones tend not to last. The culture is very comfortable and fun, driven by a few strong personalities and fun-loving individuals. The products are just wonderful.

Cons

The company tends to favor budget over substance, and is hesitant to spend or take many risks. This approach also applies to hiring practices, and at times the best candidates are driven away due to below-average compensation rates.
