Pros

Travel, an opportunity to learn about the transportation and corporate communications industry.

Cons

Other than the cars provided, travel accommodations were unsafe and unclean. Pay and antiquated views of leadership. No real human resources.

Pros

Great boss, interesting and fun work, my contributions are valued

Cons

Pay, but it’s keeping in line with the industry pay in journalism, which tends to be on the lower end.

Pros

News Link is a great place to learn the ins and outs of journalism. While you really get a lot of responsibility, they try to make it fun. They do some community involvement stuff with the local schools and with Operation Lifesaver. We also collect socks and stuff for foster kids. Travel is pretty fun because all the expenses are paid by the company while you go around a bunch of different areas covering news. The equipment is all macs and in pretty good shape too.

Cons

Just like any journalism job, you have deadlines and you have to conduct a bunch of interviews. These interviews are tougher to get because we avoid negative content. But that makes you a better journalist and with some creativity you can do some cool feature content. I'd say the biggest thing to understand is that travel is involved (10 days per month) and you have to be ready to do that.
