Pros

Great place to learn PR basics. Super fast paced. Good for getting thick skin if you don't already have it (you'll definitely need it at this place).

Cons

No work life balance. Prepare to be at the office until the end of time everyday and even on summer Friday's (and don't worry you'll be working from home on weekends). If you're not staying there until 9PM everyday or arriving at 6AM you're not "committed." Even if you leave early you'll be answering emails until 1AM and on weekends. Nasty employees who get a kick out of demeaning you and embarrassing you in front of your peers when you make a mistake. Unrealistic deadlines is a MAJOR issue. The micromanaging is UNREAL here (even a thank you email needs to be "approved"). A very cookie cutter agency with NO DIVERSITY. As a result, true creativity and originality is hard to find here. Employees are boring with no spunk. If you're not a trust fund baby from Connecticut and wear boat shoes everyday prepared to be completely excluded from team activities and the agency as a whole. The owner is a cocky, condescending older woman who runs her agency like we're living in the 1800's. The computers are old and clunky. No office perks- don't expect to come home with anything like at most agencies-- here you give your soul in exchange for NOTHING. Filthy office and kitchen supplies, heinous dated decor and an office filled with the most ungrateful supervisors and president.

Pros

Supportive colleagues, Nice Office amenities Flexible start time

Cons

The Pay is low across the board, they make a song and dance every year about performing salary equity analysis in comparison to other PR firms around the same size but it's total BS. You will be paid less than your peers regardless of the team or position you hold. Additionally, the tech they utilize is awful. You're going to get set up on a hand me down that's a blink away from fully dying. Even the brand new right out of the box devices sometimes have major issues. C-Suite and Finance would rather save budget on VP bonuses than invest in agency wide new laptops. It's all very short sighted, they would rather incrementally purchase new devices and give them out to more senior staff with device issues and to new senior hires, those on older devices will have to wait until theirs fully dies before they even think about setting you up on a new one. Finally, unless you're on one of the PR teams don't even think about upwards mobility. Every other team from HR to Finance to even parts of Digital will eventually hit a ceiling in promotions. Not like the promotions matter much anyway, you'll get a nominal increase but your day-to-day responsibilities stay the same but know you have additional work to do as well! So you end up still feeling junior.
