Pros
- Real, impactful product that actually makes a difference in people's lives - Great team, very strong individual talent in the company - Company has a casual atmosphere; employees are actually friends and have fun both at and outside of work - A lot of responsibility and autonomy for those who want it. Most teams are lean, so each employee makes a big impact. - Appetite to innovate and try new things; a lot of experiments, pilots, etc. constantly happening - Strong focus on doing what's most important (although sometimes to the point where it actually causes churn) - Office perks (catered lunches Tuesday/Thursday, snacks, unlimited PTO, etc.)
Cons
- Disagreements about company decisions and priorities can happen, and final decisions sometime happen through force rather than compromise - Top down culture; difficult for more junior employees to give feedback and lack of action even when that feedback is shared - Surprisingly high amount of process for a small team, which seems to focus more on monitoring rather than actual deliverables - Day to day responsibilities can be painful due to a buildup of manual processes and workarounds that never get improved - A few aspects of office culture could be improved (transparency around the business, team building, employee development, micromanagement)
