Meaningful work in animal welfare, but resource challenges exist - Animal Care Specialist No Dogs Left Behind Employee Review

Volunteering with NDLB enabled me to give back and support an organization that fights tooth and nail to rescue dogs from the unimaginable and horrific dog meat trade while also allowing me to gain invaluable experience on canine behaviour and handling. Most rewarding was the sense of fulfillment achieved from knowing that you made a difference to the survivors given a second chance and that you were an integral part of their journey to a better life from intake to adoption. NDLB solidified my desire to advocate for the voiceless and continue on the path of animal welfare. For that, I am grateful to both the organization and the animals within it.

Rescue work can be emotionally challenging, physically demanding and intense but the benefits far outweigh the cons

Working with an organization that truly cares about animal welfare. I enjoyed my work at the kennel. It was rewarding and gave me a different perspective of what is like to run a dog rescue. The dogs were awesome and I treated them like my own. I continue to volunteer on a full time basis now

Grueling schedule. The dogs never take time off and neither do the kennel attendants. Working every holiday in the rain or snow. Lack of a bathroom other than a non heated port a poty. Endless dog poop
