Pros

Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems Sector offers many advantages to it's employees where teaming efforts are involved. They afford the employ an opportunity to travel world wide, Telecommute, flexible shifts and reasonable time off for work life balance. The projects and aircraft are amazing in their capabilities, employees can be proud of their accomplishments. The culture is generally a family of friends making things happen. They look out for one another and offer assistance and guidance where needed. The benefits are reasonable as tis the compensation.

Cons

Northrop Grumman has many Sectors. None of which are created equal for various reasons. This makes for an environment of the "Haves" and the "Have Not's". Many employees are jealous of other sector employees because of their benefits, schedules and general work life culture. Northrop Grumman Technical Services is the worst offender of this in my experience. They have poor benefits, expect way too much from their employees and pursue unrealistic goals. Some of the Senior Leadership have a "Bully" mentality where middle Management are afraid to speak freely for fear of reprisal. Expect layoff's every couple of years and don't think you are safe from being escorted off the property with no notice. (A very humiliating practice) This is especially true for Contractors, they are hired on and let go frequently. Those of us who have the intestinal fortitude to stand up for what is right, are short lived in the Technical Services Sector.

Pros

Job security, nearly impossible to get laid off, Hours for most people are consistent, generally a good benefits package. You are able to jump around laterally within the company very easily. Once you get to T3 and above the salary becomes decent for prime standards. Easy, almost non-existent interviews.

Cons

Not moving fast enough in the current defense market. Lots of red-tape. Turnover at specific sites are insanely high. Promotions take forever and the increase in salary is minimal. They don't care about retention. They will let you walk and give your replacement a sign-on bonus and a higher salary. There are a lot of slackers and old timers riding it out till retirement. Only about a 1/3 of this site is actually productive. Yes-men get into management and ignore technical experts. Agile hiring is a huge issue where people are just thrown onto random teams. Easy, almost non-existent interviews allow people without relevant backgrounds to join teams. Every site operates completely differently.
