Pros
Free gym. Health insurance. Not a lot.
Cons
Be careful working with for this company. I worked for Nuffield for several years, and during that time there were large pay discrepancies. The issue is not the discrepancy, the issue is how difficult is to resolve it with Nuffield. According to their own system Workday, the company owes me money for overtime I worked in the last month of my employment. Despite numerous emails to both the Nuffield contact centre and my line manager, this has not been properly resolved. In addition, my former line manager's last email accused me of “working unauthorised overtime”. However, theatres in this hospital are known to use compulsory overtime (under the guise of 'on-call' commitments). Several hundred pounds were deducted from my last pay cheque, and to date - again despite numerous attempts to contact HR and Payroll - I have received no explanation. A few weeks ago I found out that Nuffield had miscalculated my taxes. I now owe HMRC £250 in underpaid tax! The company's sick pay is very poor - when I contracted Covid at work I had to use some of my annual leave or I would not get any further sick pay from Nuffield. There were absolutely no opportunities for my career progression during my employment. I was encouraged to take a 'link role’ with additional duties (which required the completion of a university module, portfolio and essay) without any additional pay or promotion. And finally, the rota is given out only one week in advance of upcoming shifts. Summary, appalling experience, unprofessional with bad management and bad treatment.
