Pros

* Good exposure to real-world projects with opportunities to work on SQL, BigQuery, DBT, Looker Studio, and large-scale analytics. * Ownership of end-to-end projects and the chance to learn by solving business problems. * Supportive teammates who were collaborative and always willing to help. * A fast-paced environment that can accelerate learning if you’re early in your career

Cons

* Career growth is not well defined, and there is no clear roadmap for promotions or long-term employee development. * Performance reviews and salary hikes appear to be heavily influenced by the last few months of work rather than recognizing contributions made consistently throughout the year. * Planning is one of the biggest challenges. Projects are often started without clearly defining the problem, requirements, success criteria, or implementation approach, resulting in frequent priority changes and unnecessary rework. * In my experience, senior leadership was often disconnected from the operational realities of how teams and systems function. Decisions were sometimes made without a sufficient understanding of existing processes, dependencies, or technical constraints. * Even when teams explained why a proposed approach would not work or suggested a more practical alternative, those concerns were not always taken into account, leading to avoidable implementation effort and repeated changes. * There is a strong push toward AI and automation, but in many cases the business problem itself is not clearly identified before building a solution. This can lead to automation efforts that solve symptoms rather than the underlying issue. * Testing and validation could be significantly improved. New solutions are sometimes validated with only a limited number of scenarios before being moved into production, which often shifts the responsibility of identifying issues to end users and support teams. * Employees are expected to adapt to frequent changes with tight timelines, making work unpredictable and, at times, difficult to plan effectively. * The organization would benefit from more structured planning, better cross-functional collaboration, and greater trust in feedback from the teams responsible for executing the work.

Pros

In a high ownership culture, employees get opportunities to take initiatives beyond defined roles. Fast growth environment with exposure to leadership, hiring strategy, partnerships, events, and execution. Strong focus on innovation and experimentation, especially with AI and automation initiatives. Young and energetic work culture with ambitious goals. Opportunity to build from scratch and create visible impact quickly. Leadership gives room for capable people to scale responsibilities rapidly. Exposure to startup-style execution and cross-functional collaboration. Strong mission-driven culture around student outcomes and employability.

Cons

Workload can become extremely high for high performers handling multiple responsibilities simultaneously. Role clarity and bandwidth management sometimes become difficult as responsibilities keep expanding. Processes are still evolving in many teams, leading to dependency on individuals instead of systems. Recognition and compensation progression may not always match the scale of ownership taken by employees. Frequent priority shifts can create execution pressure and reduce focus. Some initiatives rely heavily on manual follow-ups instead of structured automation/processes. Internal communication/alignment across teams can improve during fast-moving projects.
