Pros

You get to have a go at a lot of things that would take a while to do at other firms. They don’t train you for it though.

Cons

Low wages, terrible management and lack of respect for employees. Firm ended up in voluntary liquidation and employees were only told 30 mins before end of last day. CEO often sent rude and condescending emails to staff. Worst place I’ve worked at.

Pros

Fast paced work environment. The days will go by quick. The days are never boring. Dress is casual. Down to earth co workers. Pretty good pay for industry standards. Benefits are okay. Some good people in upper management.

Cons

You will be pushed incessantly and you will feel like a turnip being squeezed for everything your worth. Upper management often times doesn't have a proper understanding of how much goes into getting the job done. They also change direction on company policies based on a customer reaction. They do this and blame the employee for the customer being upset who was only following company policy. There is often a lack of trust that upper and mid management shows towards employees. You will often feel micro managed. When a customer issue arises upper management will often be reactionary before allowing staff to investigate. A lot of brow beating goes on here. Management doesn't always have a consistent philosophy. Vacation/sick time is not comparable to other industries. As an employee, you will often feel not valued. Favortism is a problem often times.

I want to thank you for taking the time to give us feedback. I’m sorry that your experience at One Legal didn’t match up to our aim of being a great place to work. Yes, our industry requires that we provide a fast service to our customers, but that must never make our employees feel like they’re being pushed beyond their limits; if you felt this way, I am sorry. I will open up an enquiry into managers and how they deliver feedback, the idea one of my managers put you down is simply unacceptable. We are taking your feedback and looking at how we can address the areas in which we didn’t deliver a great work experience for you. In particular, we are taking significant steps to encourage free, fair, and transparent communication between managers and employees. We have also added “sick time” to our employee offerings. As you may know, the President holds a monthly town hall meeting with all staff and I encourage all staff to raise issues either with myself or the President directly or indirectly with HR. I am sorry that you didn’t feel able to do this while at One Legal – I will consider how we can further improve in this area. Thank you again for the feedback. It helps us to make One Legal a better place to work. I wish you the best of luck with all of your future endeavors. Jim Wilmott, Senior VP of Operations
