A Pretty Good Company, Figuring Out Its Future - Manager, Learning Experience Design OneAmerica Financial Employee Review

Pros

Mostly nice people across the organization and they're typically pretty customer and associate first. There's a lot of good in terms of Work/Life balance (depending on role/department). Most of their "transformation" should be wrapping up, so coming on fresh would allow someone to help rebuilding toward the future.

Cons

It feels like a place to "tread water." They're going through a transformation, which has rocked some departments, primarily one line of business was sold and shared services (HR, IT, etc) were impacted...which makes sense, however the transformation and roles/people kept weren't always in the best interest of the company....they're going through some change related pains, and if they were more strategic about it, they could have come out stronger. Instead, some departments, processes, structures are licking their wounds and figuring out where they go next. They're a bit old in their ways, systems, processes, and they'll need to change/improve/innovate rapidly to remain viable in this ever-changing technology-driven world. Compensation in down the middle, in most all roles. There may be a bit of disorder, depending on the department, based on the transformation initiatives.

Pros

Mostly good community, especially if you like to sell life insurance. Their products are expensive but good quality.

Cons

They LOVE to push life insurance. When you sign a contract, make sure you fully read it. General Agents have a lot of power. They have certain products that you can only sell and manage as a career agent. The general agent also has the ability to ban you from working with them for 2 years, and if you spent 3 years putting clients into those products you may have an issue.
