Pros

Students aren't bad. It's nice helping people and giving them advice on how to improve their English - though this really has nothing to do with the company itself.

Cons

Open English / Open Education has started using third party recruiters to pay their employees less and less. They have employed people for years without giving anyone a raise and have recently fired those who got paid a bit more (still less than minimum wage - about 13 USD at most) to hire those from less developed countries for 7 USD or less an hour. Communication with management is abysmal and the pay is quite bad, The lessons are boring and repetitive and the methodology of teaching is not effective.

Pros

The students are the only positive aspect of the job.

Cons

Very low pay compared to industry standards, with no bonus or end-of-year commission. No clear direction from upper management, expect constant changes and inconsistent expectations. The work environment feels disrespectful, and employees often feel undervalued. Working conditions have become more strict over time, creating a stressful and discouraging atmosphere. No teacher freedom to make instructional decisions; creativity is discouraged. Constant fear of job loss due to regular staff cuts and unstable staffing decisions. Recent restructuring resulted in a significant pay cut paired with an increase in working hours. Communication is poor, and decisions seem to be made without considering the impact on staff.
