Pros

This Review was originally posted, but somehow removed. I guess it was reported by HR at Optanix. I am reposting and removing specific titles that may identify the individuals or individual who performed the firing below. -- Original Content -- * Still good people who want to succeed and make changes for the better * Software Engineering is innovating and bringing modern technologies to platform * Sales team is making progress * Product is heading in the right direction and something I can get behind As someone who has survived all the layoffs and firings, this is still a company I can believe in and back. I am seeing improvement, which is more than I can say in the past. Some of the executive team members get the horrible spot previous management had placed on us. Yes we are having multiple layoffs, which I can understand as over the 5+ years being here I have always wondered why we had so many incompetent people with such high salaries. As we move to a more software focused company, I can say we are headed in the right direction. The new R&D leadership has a strong goal and now a strong leader in Engineering who can make it happen. The sales team is actively working hard to make sure we are in the right market and making the connections we need. Engineering seems to be making strides in updating its technology and skillset.

Cons

* Still a lot of work to be done, with less people * Timelines is maybe too aggressive * "Senior Members" of Human Resources doesn't actually understand the culture * Top producers leaving on their own for better opportunities We are headed in the right direction, we are fixing the technology stack and product vision. However, with hard locked timelines and less resources it continues to be hard to deal with the amount of technical debt and still move forward. It's doable, but will be hard. We need to stop and fix the flat tires before continuing to drive. Unfortunately most of the reviews on the glass door are fairly accurate, but can be skewed towards the negative. The 5 start reviews are very obvious plants from HR to try to recover this page. Responses on glass door from HR to people who are feeling hurt or expressing their opinions is always condescending and disrespectful. Obviously when layoffs happen people are hurt and mad. However, HR has made sure to put stipulations into the severance contracts to never ever speak badly of Optanix on social media or loose it. The cons right now for me, is the current culture. Unfortunately it is one of fear and self interest. Our current mouth piece to the executive team on the culture is so out of touch, it borderlines on delusion. In 2018 giving us 3% match on 401k is like having internet. You shouldn't pat yourself on the back for that. I mean, i guess it is the best benefit we have? (doesn't start till 2019) I do believe that the "new" Optanix culture is one of self-interest, or at least thats the one our new HR department is promoting. There are not any promotions or raises, any promotions come from reduction in force or new hires. People are too worried about being laid off to stand up for themselves or others. This is unfortunate.

Pros

Everyone leaves a "Bad" review after they leave a place and I think a lot of people forget the great things they observed when working at their previous company. Optanix was an incredible place to collaborate with some excellent individuals while developing really interesting tools and providing an excellent level of service to an interesting and diverse customer base. Keyword: WAS

Cons

Unfortunately, Optanix has devolved into a charade of chaos, deception, ambiguity, oppression, and stress. Employees who were once "A" tier contributors are being over worked to the point where they are barely delivering 10% of their previous output. The culture demands a 24/7 accessibility that completely disrupts any semblance of a work/life balance. Engineers are being mandated for double shifts and being forced to work weekend/night shifts despite seniority due to a diminishing workforce. Meanwhile, Executive Management blames their lack of hiring on "bad reviews" on company review sites. Its gone as far as the company pandering to new hire employees practically begging for good reviews to raise their rating. It's SUPER obvious which reviews these are and is an embarrassment to the employees that remain there.
