Pros

got paid at the end of the month

Cons

We were part of the thousand or so employees transferred from NSN to Redknee. When it was announced that Redknee was the company buying BSS from NSN we thought our transfer did not make sense (we were involved with the remaining NSN business more than the part being transferred to Redknee). However the higher management (who had been negotiating the sale and would themselves move to redknee) told us that we had a secure future with Redknee and having the best people was the most important thing (they told us this as a team and also me personally during a phone call with the head of technical support). After less than 18 months we were all fired by Redknee, the company even hiring legal experts so they could pay us the bare minimum redundancy required by local laws and getting us out of the office literally hours after being told ‘this is your last day with Redknee’. This is not the style of firing people in our country and came as somewhat of a shock although happily I found another job with a competitor a couple of months later. Not only were we given immediate notice and literally left with work undone, but the team that took over our jobs were told the same day, with zero handover whatsoever. Trouble ticket cases were stopped in the middle and they found out they were the new support team for this product the same morning we were fired – not that many of them knew anything at all about the product. I have no idea how customers of Redknee felt about this or how support of the product continued. If you work for Redknee try to get as much from the company in terms of skills and experience as possible since the company certainly doesn't care about you. From what I’ve read about 4G mobile networks there is no future for one of their main products (unified intelligent network), the 4G networks just do not use that kind of technology at all. When I heard of Redknee’s interest in our department I thought they were a company with a few managers in Canada and people doing the work in India. That is true although since the merger they have some workers in Poland as well (another cheap country) but still the concept is the same. Make sure you get more from the company than the company gets from you.
