County Executive Office; Government and Community Relations - Anonymous Orange County (California) Employee Review

Pros

Job security when you pass the 1 year probationary period. Benefits. Access to a professional union. Ability to work in multiple agencies if openings are available and favoritism isn't a factor.

Cons

Terrible management in the Government and Community Relations Office. Employees "work out of class," meaning they should be paid according to the job responsibilities for which they are hired. Instead, they are paid less to do work of a higher "class." Little trust, political, upper leadership ill equipped to execute roles, retaliatory culture, office gossip and disparraging remarks to ruin reputations. Applying for promotions is based on favoritism and not work product or job performance. Department head buys baked goods on a daily basis hoping it buys support from employees.
