Pros

- Autonomy: I am involved in decisions about what I'm building and am treated as the expert in my area. I'm trusted to deliver features in the way that I see fit, both in terms of implementation, but also in terms of my working patterns. - Culture: a London-based legal AI startup is the kind of place that people assume will be really intense, populated exclusively with 20-somethings who work all evening to ship features. This is simply not the case. Orbital strikes a fantastic balance between being inclusive of all kinds of people, respecting their approach to work and facilitating them to do great work. A good example of this is the generous paternity leave, which is very rare for a startup. The outcome of this is that everyone at Orbital that I work with actually wants to ship great stuff and that doesn't mean having no work-life balance, at least for me. - Area: Orbital's products are really interesting to work on and there's a lot of scope for using new technologies if they can be justified.

Cons

Without wanting to come across as a fan boy, I honestly can't think of anything I don't like about the company other than the obvious things that all tech startups suffer from. Things break and there is sometimes pressure to sort them out -- if you don't like any pressure then don't work here. But in my experience, pressure at Orbital is never toxic. Everyone wants to fix things and there aren't witch hunts when things go wrong.
