Pros

None, really. It's a complete clown show.

Cons

Poor communication, from support and project administration. Limited work that is assigned by an incompetent ai system. The platform and its regular employees (support, project management) will outright lie to you about anything and everything. Convoluted, poorly written instructions and onboarding material. Often delivered via video or written by someone with a tenuous grasp of the English language. Unpaid training sessions, including onboarding and useless webinars. Webinars are never helpful and usually descend into a bunch of people with limited English skills asking the same stupid questions over an over. Frequent assignments to dead or dying projects following lengthy, unpaid onboarding training and assessments. Comically underestimated time requirements for onboarding. Unqualified and borderline illiterate reviewers; your future with a project depends on these clowns and you will get burned. Infrequent, intermittent work. Absolutely no such thing as a project that lasts more than a couple of weeks any longer, in my experience. Project management often displays favoritism when assigning work. Bootlickers in community discourse and webinars. Exceedingly tedious people. Models frequently fail when one is trying to complete a task. Project instructions are poorly written (with the exception of the crew that ran Nexus and Seal; they were outstanding) and rarely updated. There is a general vibe that project management doesn't know what is going on and they are only winging it. Being forced to work on other "priority" projects, usually paying less, when one is working on a decent project. Unrealistic time requirements/constraint. In order to maintain quality ratings and remain on a project, one must often pause the timer to do necessary research to complete a task. This means you are effectively reducing your rate of pay and therefore, your compensation. Project terminations are abrupt, and you will be ghosted when they end.

Pros

The short time that I had consistent work was very good. Never had a problem with pay. Paid fairly for work. Plus, I really enjoyed learning all the different tasks. With the "Cons" issues made clear upfront, I would recommend this platform to a friend.

Cons

Applied as a specialist. Only offered generalist work. And haven't had any new projects for a while. The projects I was invited to earlier this year were poorly designed and involved long onboarding processes. They were all iterations of the same poorly-designed project. Since then, nothing. It's frustrating to see job listings from them in my field of expertise and not be able to apply to them. And yes, I've kept my resume and LI updated. It doesn't seem to matter. Also, comparing the community chat platform, monitoring, and ease of use to other (similar) platforms I work with, Outlier's is the worst one. I've found that there are far more people who use Reddit to get their project questions answered and to try to find out what is happening than use and actually get answers from Outlier's own discussion platform.
