Pros

Free Food sometimes (Cafe only) when written off as a loss, and not too often Guaranteed Breaks (but not the time of day and they'll guilt you) Unionized (but that doesn't help) Casual uniforms Contributing to a small business atmosphere THEY COMPOST!! Training opportunities (don't lead anywhere, but interesting) On-site food and caffeine when on break, 20% discount Assistant Managers rocked (Mike and Max) and are some of my favorite people

Cons

Will use you if you let them Low wages Lots of lazy high school kids ruin it and make it NOT fun HR said I faked an injury on their broken equipment, but other people were getting hurt too Cut my hours when I asked for unpaid time off instead of worker's comp, which is totally illegal and unjust. It cost me $550 ish and I could have lost my health insurance if it went on too long. Salmonella outbreak and cross contamination, and management didn't take it seriously until they lost lots of money Health insurance has $5000 deductible, 401K is a joke They lost my hiring paperwork and refiled it for a lower amount, then accused me of faking it until I proved otherwise with my copy. Geri backed me up and is a good manager and really nice person. (GM at State now)

Pros

Great coworkers, very reasonable work expectations and employer is willing to work with staff regarding schedule or promotion.

Cons

Low pay. The staff are union but the pay is very low, even for retail. Joining the union is not mandatory but if you do it’s about $350-$450 per year that comes automatically out of paycheck.
