Pros

Honestly, there is not much good today. My internship there was many years ago and was a stain on my undergraduate experiences.

Cons

My interview took place in the 'founder's' apartment. She has no structure, and nothing gets done. It was an endless string of "what if we..." with no action, and a huge list of to-dos for the interns. She got nothing but free labor from me and another girl for almost 5 months, which was a huge stressor on top of my college workload. She promises her interns "future stake" in the company which is a whole bunch of BS. She buys you lunch every so often, but you pay your own subway fare to get there, bring all your own computers and supplies to just sit around her kitchen table, so it barely even matters. She's predatory to young girls in NYC looking for internships. She'll sell you the narrative that she was a successful banker and the 'pantsuit' life was all-that. Sure, she has a nice apartment and lots of money, but the reality is she likely coasted on the trails of those around her during great financial times in NYC and she sacrificed love, a family and children for that. Beware this role, and do not entertain it in the slightest. The day after I resigned, the founder called me on the phone and unprofessionally cornered me asking why I resigned. When I told her honestly why I left, she got so aggressive and huffy with me that I hung up the phone. Real mature for a woman over 50 to speak to a 20 year old that way. If she truly believed in her mission she would encourage women to hop jobs and get paid opportunities. Total hypocrite.

Pros

As someone who was transitioning into UI/UX design at the time, this was an incredible opportunity to develop professional, hard skills in a real-world team dynamic. Expectations were always clear and the team respects everyone's time and level of commitment. My opinions were always valued and this opportunity opened additional UI/UX design opportunities for me. This was also the smoothest onboarding and orientation process I experienced as an intern. Individual growth is always valued and there were always opportunities to receive individual feedback on design work from the Lead UI/UX Designer and Supervisor.

Cons

No significant downsides that I can think of. My role at the time was remote, so that's something to consider work-environment wise.

Pros

Do not apply to this fake company

Cons

This job made me feel uncomfortable with the tasks we were assigned to do. This place was also run by the interns with no real leadership or clear vision.
