Pros
Over the last year, PWI has been making lots of effort to be more transparent, have more opportunities for staff feedback (not just Executive Level), and promote a more positive and supportive culture. This really started when we got a new CEO. There is an increase in staff training, movement towards paperless documentation, better use of technology, more communication from the CEO to all staff, and getting the staff involved in decision making. I particularly enjoying working with my direct supervisor, who provides good internal customer service and support. The company as a whole really strives to give adults with disabilities ample opportunity to plan their week, receive supports and have a strong say in how they spend their time. We are no longer only about employment, but now about empowerment. PWI is also doing more to promote a fun work atmosphere (videos, cookies for St. Patrick's Day, etc.)
Cons
Staff are expected to be very flexible with their schedule and responsibilities. Entry level staff do not usually have a completely consistent schedule. There also is a lack of promotional opportunities as staff tend to stay a long time in their positions. We all wish that we could make more money, of course. There could also be more opportunities for professional growth for entry level staff, especially since promotional opportunities are limited.
