Pros

- Remote - Great colleagues - Exciting idea

Cons

- Majority of the leadership are way out of their depth and the CEO has a massive ego, he believes he is always right - No expertise in marketing, but have no trust or faith in actual marketing professionals, constantly asking for plans so no time for work to ever actually get done - They repeatedly lay off huge percentages of the company to fix the problem that they're losing money or not growing enough, this has happened 3 times now - Although they dress up layoffs as strategic, they're clearly failing and desperate and the staff are majorly stressed by the insecurity, resulting in everyone saying yes to whatever the CEO wants, when he has no clue what to do - No drive, expertise or ambition from the key leaders apart from the COO - The product is a poor copy of what's already out there from competitors at similar price point. Pento product development process is slow and lethargic, not streamlined at all

Pento Response

Hey, we're really sorry that your time at Pento didn't work out and it ended in the way that it did. We should have addressed all of our concerns together a lot earlier and that's on us. Our marketing team has finally formed and a stellar new bunch of people have joined our early team – it's a shame that you didn't land now and get to experience this. But I am happy to read that your experience with your wider Pento colleagues was positive, I know they'd say the same. You're certainly right that team restructuring caused insecurity across the team remaining and it's something we've needed to work through together. We can only explain a scenario like this as transparently as possible and hope that it doesn't land like a crappy false narrative. All the best and please don't hesitate to reach out directly. I know getting closure on a job which doesn't work out is really tough and can have a lasting impact. Kayleigh, head of people
