Pros
Joining Peoplewise was not a decision I took lightly, as I was walking away from my own business, but I knew I needed a fresh challenge, I wanted to learn and learn through others, to have more variety in the content of work and to be part of a team. These were all aspects that I am pleased to say 12 months on have been met and continue to do so. The team is extremely supportive and generous with their time and knowledge. In moments in which my confidence has taken a dip, I have been able to talk about it without fear and get the coaching to move me forward. Feedback for learning is encouraged and readily available upwards, downwards and sideways. It's an exciting time at Peoplewise with growth plans and to be part of the journey is a great opportunity. Since joining I have had the opportunity to work with learners and clients from around the world virtually from my home. And to get out to meet others in person which is a good mix for me. Weekend working is not encouraged and while on some occasions you do need to put the extra hours in to get something over the line, this is less than I have experienced in my career to date and it is the nature of consultancy and project work. The core team is small enough that you get to know each other but backed by specialists in support functions and associates around the globe who can bring that local geographical market insight. The size allows you to learn how a business works, to get exposure to aspects that you might not in bigger consultancy firms and to have your impact on shaping the future of the organisation.
Cons
When making a change you must understand what you want from your employer and what you want to be different from your current job. The transition Peoplewise is going through with our growth plans may not suit all as there is a need for us to be flexible and agile. Peoplewise is about helping people and organisations reach their potential and apply this to its own people, therefore, if you aren't comfortable learning, or not open to feedback, or on occasions being put outside your comfort zone (with support) then this might not be the place for you.
