Pros

Writing the actual articles is very straightforward with the briefs they provide. They typically take between 3-5 hours. Payments are "promised" the following pay period. (Expect payment for your work after 5-7 weeks until they have technical difficulties. Then it's anyone's guess and Pepper will pass along their wire fees to you.)

Cons

1) Technical difficulties with payments caused payments to be more than 6 weeks later than promised. Pepper passed on all their wire fees to the contractors and did not pay interest on their late payments. They did not take any responsibility, didn't apologize for missing payments over the holidays, and insinuated that late payments were somehow the writers' fault. 2) Very low pay for the caliber of clients they contract with and quality of work they expect. 3) Unrealistic word count expectations. 4) Miscommunication between client, proofreaders, editors and writers. Editors and proofreaders request changes that are illogical and not aligned with the clients' content or native English practices. 5) Began the contract on the understanding that pay would be per-word -- but they did not pay per word. Instead, they paid a flat rate and insisted on additional words to cover the content of the brief without additional compensation. 6) Does not give any kind of bonus pay for going above and beyond what is asked for with tight turnarounds.
