Pros

None. This is a dangerous environment for the safety of your life and mental health

Cons

Avoid this place. No wage is worth the risks you are taking to your life and wellbeing. During my time at Pets and Pats I witnessed Angela Beer recruiting overseas employees by going to back packers to seek out young internationals and offering them work. Some had only been in the country merely days before she hand over the keys to high net worth client houses in Auckland's elite suburbs to collect their dogs to spend hours in her vans to deliver to her farm in Dairy Flats. Angela handed over house keys and security key codes at the drop of a hat in order to collect revenue from her affluent clientele and have these unvetted workers into their private homes. There was no evidence they has work visa, employment contracts, IRD numbers, drivers licenses or a clean criminal record as no checks were in place. Most worker were not familiar with the NZ road rules as their country of origin drive on the opposite side of the road. There were several van crashes in the short time I worked there. The conditions of the vans were also of extreme concern. There was no evidence of van maintenance or cleaning of these vans. Windows were commonly covered faeces, window wipers and indicators not working, and the air conditioning would fail. Angela had no vehicle fleet manager employed and I doubt she had the time, skills or interest in doing this herself. When there were crashes in the vans she would scream at her staff who were genuinely in shock form the accidents and demand they pay her the 5K excess, but then would retreat when she realised no employment contract was actually in place. Angela would then offer some of the workers who had crashed farm hand hand roles in hard manual labour which they would accept out of guilt for the accident as they felt indebted to her. Angela constantly denied the hours her clients dogs spent in her vans to/from the farm, but the smart customers who had equipped airtags to their dog collars had GPS tracking data to dispute Angelas lies. Unfortunately for her technology caught up with her in the end. Can I please add most positive review on this page has been done by Angela bullying or manipulating some one to do so. They are not true and should be dismissed.

Pros

none at all. Please stay away from Pets and pats if you love your dogs

Cons

4 years later this place still haunts me. I use to work here. Absolute Rubbish. dogs were in the van for 3 hours one way and Angela would tell me to lie to clients to say it was only 30mins paddock were split in3, big dogs, medium, and small dogs. you would have 40 dogs in large dog paddock and only 2 handlers. dogs would fight and that's it inexperienced staff csnt do much. Angela hires anyone no experience. she hires young individuals who hsve no clue what they are doing. Buses are nightmare to drive. I had a bus with 30+ dogs squeezed in there, sometimes some crates had 3 dogs in one. It was INSANE, the van brakes were failing and I asked them to fix it. they never fixed it. I almost crashed and I had the biggest breakdown I refused to drive the van any further. your dogs only get 2 hours max in paddocks. 6 hours is spent in buses in total. if a dog get into fight that's it, sometimes dogs are locked in the kitchen whole day. they don't get any playtime with other dogs. they jsut get taken out to take photos to show clients it's Allgood. but then they go back to getting locked up. Angela needs help. She abuses staff no care for dogs. she should not be anywhere near animals.
