Pros
Small family run business so ownership is not too far detached. Quality focus Excellence, innovation Extreme talent within the company Friendly people Diversity welcome, lots of women and minority folks Decent benefits with many options Good amenities. Superior product to the only actual competitor out there (that is a huge pro and was the reason for my decision to work here). In fact, the PSI product is so much better than the only competition (from L3 Harris) that merely comparing the 2 side by side without an ounce of technical comprehension one can see the glaring differences. The PSI tracking mounts are absolutely gorgeous pieces of brilliant functionality; where the L3 Harris option looks thrown together sloppily and without care and the performance reflects that too. Once PSI finally gets to production: they should have a steady flow of work as their products are unsurpassed in the industry. It will be a difficult sell to convince operators to switch from the less capable L3 to the vastly superior PSI, but as operators make the transition: they are immediately seeing the benefits of the PSI system. PSI only seems more complicated because it is more capable. L3 only seems easier because it is outdated ancient technology that is too limited for today's needs. In reality the PSI product is easier once the operator learns it because the PSI automatic modes actually work and even in the most insanely difficult of situations and they have genius engineering talent that is taking it to the next level. There is actually a path forward to even better capabilities within the existing hardware platform and they have the right software development team to bring those improvements to fruition.
Cons
Family run, that means that there are areas that are unprofessional and grossly inept from leadership Archaic 20th century processes Archaic ways of thinking Archaic luddite time clock Paperwork focus instead of electronic, Each department is an island, there is a total lack of collaboration between departments that result in production delays and problems High risk company teetering on the edge of either success or bankruptcy With current management processes and strategies, it is more likely to fail than to succeed. But with PSI having almost no competition it could merely succeed at a far lower and slower rate than would have been otherwise possible. I am 100% certain that they are losing money because they cannot ship a product until they can actually make a product. So PSI needs to reduce headcount and expenses until they get products ready to ship. My job of integration is near the last step before shipping so my dismissal made sense. Single product (all eggs into one single basket) Worst HR director, absolutely 0 care for anyone Old employees can decide that they do not like new ones and get new ones removed. No understanding or willingness to understand neuro-divergent autistic people. If you do not fit in with their mindset, you will offend someone (as I did) and that will get the HR director to meet with you. If you do not conform to what the HR director can understand or comprehend you will be fired (as I was). Tone-deaf policies Tone-deaf management Open door but no change, as problems are entrenched and not going away. Use that open door at the risk of offending someone. You need to walk on eggshells here, dont criticize anything or even be perceived as critical. While this is unpleasant, this is a minor negative. Being neurodivergent, I am used to not fitting in and to that point this still would have been a 3-star review for PSI had we simply parted ways as normal companies do by letting me clean out my desk and get my stuff, or PSI having someone else do that for me. But you saw the 1 star review, so what happened? Why the 1 star review? Because of the Exit Interview, the Termination Interview. Everything was fine, sign this, sign that, all boilerplate. But then ........ Exit interview was the #1 least professional and most dangerous ever bar none in a 4 decade career. HR Director demanded that I leave the facility without my purse which has my: car keys, house keys, wallet, ID, driver's license, debit cards, credit cards, water/water bottle, lunch, backpack, or any other possession saying that it would be mailed to me. I literally had to refuse to leave because I cannot drive without those things. I cannot enter my vehicle, I cannot get into my home. My mailbox is locked, I cannot open it without a key. The management did not care. They literally refused to let me have my purse, so I sat there and refused to move. I was waiting for them to call the police because I wanted to tell a third party that I needed my purse & the contents of my purse in order to drive my vehicle. Fortunately the HR Clerk who was witness saw the escalation and moved to end the stalemate/standoff by going to retrieve my items with my supervisor so that I was able to depart the facility and return to my home. Last night I literally had a nightmare over that incident, I woke from a dream thinking that I was trapped in the barred and locked security gated parking lot. When a company's management policies inspire nightmares, there is no amount of money that is worth being there. Also: no job is worth risking losing one's purse for. THAT took a 3 star review to a 1 star review. Because that is a direct threat on my health and well-being. No job is worth that. No amount of money is worth that.
