Pros
The people you will work with day to day are, for the most part, genuinely good people. Unfortunately this place is so awful it brings out the worst in everyone who works there. Everyone is so used to walking on eggshells that you will be betrayed by people you think of as friends. It is not their fault, everyone is so terrified of repercussions from upper management that finding a scape goat is crucial to survival at PhotoBiz you will find yourself being blamed for things that you didn’t even know about until you already in trouble for it, it will not matter if it is your fault or not.
Cons
So incredibly exploitative and toxic, I often felt like they must be secretively filming a TLC show. You will find yourself in situations so surreal that a Truman Show type scenario is the only explanation that makes sense. If you are a gluten for emotional abuse then this place is perfect! If not, just don’t, please don’t! Be prepared to do WAY more than you signed up for. On the off chance you do get a promise of a raise, you will not get it, even if you have it in writing. If you can manage to survive at this place for more than a year, you may get a small raise but you will be expected to be eternally grateful for it and any future conversations about a pay raise will be met with utter contempt. It will not matter if you were promoted or have taken on an insane amount of extra work, asking for more pay will be treated with disgust. PhotoBiz tries to say we’re a family, you’ll be expected to work like a slave and any requests for the company to consider your well-being will be be met with rage and you will be punished. If this is a family then someone should call CPS.
