Pros

The mission and goals of the organization are very important and this work is badly needed. The doctors are phenomenal. I did great work there and gained fantastic career experience.

Cons

While the doctors themselves are lovely, there is a lot of toxicity internally. The senior management has changed since I was there from 2016 through 2018 so hopefully things have improved dramatically. During my two years with the organization, there was preferential treatment for a small core group while everyone else was subject to the never-ending layoffs. There were new staff hired every few months while other staff were laid off every few months, constant fluctuation. I was assigned a new supervisor who had no management experience in order for this person to be promoted to a very senior role and receive title change and large salary increase. I was conducting the evaluation for all the programs across the organization. I received more of the new supervisor's work while she traveled on extensive vacations. When I raised concerns about the situation and asked for support I was told I needed to operate independently. Why was the supervisor promoted if I was not to have any supervisory support? I was eventually let go because I questioned this arrangement. The HR rep worked part-time and was 27 years old. When I reached out to her as a last resort to try to see if we could make the situation work, she just helped my supervisor terminate me. Horrible no-win situation.

Pros

Flexible work hours, very nice co-workers and they pay decently. The cause is also good and Doctor-Led and they do important work.

Cons

There is a lot of micromanagement that holds projects back from moving ahead and/or prevents them from flourishing. Many decisions appear to be made on whim and not strategic thinking. They put themselves forward as family-friendly but do not actually cater to the needs of parents working there as well as they could. You are expected work weekends and very long hours because often the workload is not realistic.
