Pros

* give equity to offshore employees

Cons

* blindly try to copy everything Amazon does * overhire in the wrong time which resulted in big layoffs including staff who just relocated for the job * lack of good engineering practices and processes * head of product without PM IC experiences and foolishly pushed out good PM/design, only the ones needed immigration help stayed * company will struggle due to more regulations in the industry in the near future

Picket Response

There are some interesting perspectives for sure in this post. First, we do give equity to all overseas team members: everyone who is a full-time team member at Picket gets equity, regardless of location, though in some locations there is a legally prescribed probationary period. So I appreciate this person calling this out as positive. It is just surprising that it is the only positive they have. As for over-hiring at the wrong time, and who we chose to retain, every company in 2022 was trying to hire to meet booming demand in real estate. Could the downturn have been predicted? If so, all of the biggest players in the industry should be held to this same standard. We made mistakes in our hiring ramp, but we do not regret who we retained, including, it must be said, the individual who posted this. As the Head of People, I welcome this person to reach out and discuss their concerns individually.

Pros

A lot of smart people worked here and the culture was fun at times.

Cons

All of those smart people lacked direction and often did not seem to be on the same page. There were too many rounds of layoffs to count. If you work at Picket you will get laid off at some point. The company is barely staying afloat so unfortunately that's just the reality.
