Pros

You get to spend a lot of time with dogs, and most of the customers are very nice

Cons

This isn’t a cage free daycare like they claim. The owner locks the dogs up in crates and closets at night. I understand that all small businesses are struggling right now and the owner is under a lot of stress because he has to work basically 24-7 after laying off most of his staff, but there is zero excuse for the way he treats the poor dogs there. They are living beings!! It’s a big responsibility. I usually worked morning shifts. The first thing I would do when I got there was feed all of the dogs that had just spent the night. When I arrived each morning, the dogs would be in the play rooms. I never actually saw the dogs in the sleep room, but I just assumed he took them out every morning before I got there. But one morning while I was feeding the dogs I noticed one of them was missing.... the owner left right when I got there to run errands or something and I couldn’t get ahold of him. I searched all over the facility and couldn’t find her anywhere, and I started to worry that she escaped somehow (because I heard that happened before). Then I heard muffled barking coming from inside the storage room, and I discovered her locked up inside of a crate that was placed inside of a small closet. The crate was covered with foam dog beds and a weighted blanket as if he was trying to muffle the noise of her barking. It was pitch black and SO HOT in there. It was filthy, smelled like urine, and the plastic crate had bite marks all over it like the dogs in there were trying to eat their way out. You could tell that many dogs had been put in there before. I wish I could post pictures on here. One of my coworkers arrived shortly after and I showed her. We discovered more crates inside another closet and in two storage sheds. We took videos and pictures to report it to the ASPCA, but the reports didn’t get us anywhere because there are minimal laws regulating the way dogs are treated in boarding facilities. The law basically just requires them to provide food and shelter, that’s it. Obviously we both quit, but I still worry about those dogs every single day. It HAUNTS me knowing that I worked at a place that, in my opinion, abused animals. We had no idea. The owner is kind of odd but he seemed like he liked dogs. Clearly he does NOT. If you love dogs not work here or support this establishment in any way.

Pros

1. Super unique facility 2. No dogs are crated during the day OR at night 3. Get to sleep with dogs 4. The owner has a genuine care for the employees and is more than kind and generous 5. Nice coworkers 6. Fun job 7. Dogs are treated well 8. Facility is safe and secure 9. Easy drop off anf pick up process 10. Training was simple if you listen 11. The trainer really helps you succeed 12. GREAT pay 13. Easy access since its right off the freeway 14. Boss is super good about giving requested time off 15. There is a human that sleeps with all the dogs staying overnight in the same room and even the same bed. All the dogs get to sleep on human beds. 16. Transforms dogs from unsocialized to well socialized 17. Very good price for customers (the owner doesn't run up the cost, makes it affordable for anyone that wants their dog(s) to be in a safe and loving enviornment. 18. Unlimited free daycare and boarding for your dog(s) 19. Get to bring your dog(s) to work with you everyday! 20. Facility has a good system that gets rid of dogs behaving badly, it seems like the most humane way that is actually effective 21. No dogs are ever hurt or treated badly 22. The owner ACTUALLY cares for the animals, you can tell how much he loves dogs just by listening to him share stories and talk during the interview. 23. They take in dogs that have hard to manage behaviors/problems like dogs that have been kicked out of other places or dogs that are just not the best of dogs. And you get to see and experience how much this place truly helps dogs grow up to blossom into great dogs ! 24. Every shift you work that is 5 hours or more, you get a PAID 30 minute lunch break 25. During the middle of the day (10am-3pm) there is no drop off or pick up or customers coming in and out because it is nap time and they are not open to customers at that time for them to come into our facility. 26. Everything is organized well as far as procedures and why things are done the way they are 27. This is a REALLY good part time job while you are in school, or a full time job if you do school online or during the night. 28. It is relaxing to be around all the dogs once they are calm and tired.

Cons

1. Lots of dog poop to clean up (lol but what can you expect, I mean it is a dog facility). 2. Some of the customers don't follow the rules/don't have much respect for all the employees. 3. Some of the dogs are scared of people (but they can't help it, they have probably had trauma or are just still adjusting to new humans) but because I love dogs so much, it hurts my feelings if not all of them like me lol. 4. You have to problem solve with the difficult customers (not really a con, but it can be hard sometimes and made me feel like I was under pressure). 5. Some of the dogs do not listen which can be frustrating when trying to get all the dogs to settle down. 6. Not open late at night 7. Answering the phone when customers call (not a con but makes me nervous lol) 8. Can get pretty hot sometimes working in the outdoors during the summer 9. Depending on how much the dogs respect you, you can sometimes get dirty from them (but nothing that a shower won't fix)
