Pros
- Lots of really smart people - Impactful space helping people with real world problems
Cons
As others have noted, there is very little psychological safety at PocketHealth. Public shaming and blame are common when things don’t go to plan. Despite having many smart and capable people, very few ideas actually come from them. Leadership tends to dictate direction without clear evidence that it’s the right approach. Projects are often launched on a whim and then abandoned within weeks or months when the next “shiny” idea appears. Employees are left bearing responsibility for these failures, despite having little autonomy or authority to influence decisions or drive change. Ideas are expected to come almost exclusively from leadership, with minimal input from the broader team. Recent layoffs seem to reflect these systemic issues. After years of unsuccessful, leadership-driven initiatives, the organization restructured to pursue yet another set of “big ideas,” despite there being real opportunities that could have succeeded if employees outside a small inner circle had been empowered to contribute and execute.
