I’m glad you enjoy our culture experiments with Flowdays (meeting free days), Somedays (4 day work week), and our work from anywhere set-up. As a previous co-op student myself, I believe greatly in the work co-ops can do and the energy and ideas they bring to the table. This is why we have hired over 300 co-op students in the past 10 years.
Our mentorship style at Polar has evolved, and as we bring on more and more new co-ops, the way in which our mentors interact with our co-op students continues to mature. Each term we reevaluate and make changes to better suit the needs of our incoming students. I appreciate your feedback and will keep this in mind as we plan for our next batch of co-ops.
I believe there is value in knowing that fellow students are making the same wage as you. We have decided to keep the wage at a level that allows us to give as many students coop opportunities as possible.
Students join our company in one of four roles and are given the opportunity to shape their role into whatever they would like it to be. Due to the flexibility students have in their roles, the title they may enter the company with may not accurately reflect the work they do during their term.
