Pros
There is quite a lot of freedom in the work you are able to do (i.e. what you can cover and who you can interview). For young writers, it will also give you the chance to build your portfolio.
Cons
There is no respect for freelance writers who were bringing in a lot of the content on the website and across the sister platforms. There is also a severe lack of editorial direction and true guidance. The Editor-in-Chief has no understanding of basic grammar and has hired unpaid interns to do a lot of the work. His opinion is more important to him than fostering a community of interesting content and passionate writers. It is a place that everyone is basically looking to get out of for something bigger, many late in their careers with little hope, to be honest. The pay is also very low for what is expected and very inconsistent (waited 6+ weeks for a paycheck).
