Pros

You're left on your own with little oversight--unless your student evaluations are problematic. That's the key to success at PSU: positive student evaluations. This regards teaching in the School of Business No one will visit your class and observe your teaching. They rely solely on what the students say about you. If you understand this, you could have a good job and great benefits, including pension.

Cons

There is no sincere emphasis on quality, only lip service. What really matters to the people that will either allow you to continue to teach or who will yank your contract is student happiness. They want students to graduate with a degree, and they want zero controversy. You could actually be completely successful if you just don't get any negative reviews from your students, no matter how much they praise you or not. Everyone wants smooth sailing.
