Pros

-Coworkers are fun to work with. -Guaranteed $500 a week. -Company paid for vacations. -You can get benefits.

Cons

Basically, it's a door to door soliciting job where you try to get people to take a free estimate on windows or roofs. Every day you go knock on doors whether it is -10 or 110 degrees out, and the boss does not care about the working conditions, only your numbers. They promise a lot when you start the job, things like "you will be making 70k a year!" but that is not true. It is possible to get there but most likely you won’t. They also told me I would be doing little to none of door to door but in reality that's all you will do. My first week starting I was stopped by the cops 7 times. Two of my co-workers were ARRESTED for soliciting as well. They said they would get it off their records but they didn't. YOU WILL DEVELOP A RAP SHEET WORKING HERE ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A MINORITY. Typically, most minorities that work here get more soliciting tickets than anyone else. The company will pay for all the tickets (unless they forget which has happened) but they still stay on your record. Guys have to go to court all the time for these soliciting tickets as well. You are supposed to have representation from the company when you have a court date but they don't come. On top of that the company tells you to plead guilty but at the same time tells you what you are doing is not illegal. (On a side note it is illegal to ask your employees to do illegal things). There are a ton of bonuses you can hit to make more money which is nice but it's not nice when they are constantly missing from your paycheck. The leadership from management is up and down working here. Every day you will have a morning meeting which is really just a chance for the boss to blame the field marketers for his own short comings. I laugh at the 4 and 5 star reviews. Knowing this company I am sure they asked the employees to write those reviews.

Pros

After 15 years with the company, the biggest positive has always been the employee-focused culture. They genuinely invest in creating a good work environment, from modern office spaces and great amenities to company events, conferences, and even trips that help build team culture. The flexibility in BT to work remotely part of the week has been a huge benefit for work-life balance, especially with a family. Compensation is competitive within the home remodeling industry, and the company offers solid benefits like 401K and private health insurance. There are also opportunities to grow and learn if you’re willing to put in the effort.

Cons

One challenge is that career growth and promotions don’t always align with seniority or long-term loyalty, which can sometimes feel discouraging after many years with the company. For employees in tech-focused roles, compensation can feel a bit below market compared to the broader tech industry, even though bonuses can help offset that in strong years. Raises without a promotion are usually modest, and while the health insurance is decent overall, coverage for some major medical needs could definitely be improved.
