Cons
You’ll want to love this team. On the surface it looks like the perfect organization. If you’re a “woke Christian white guy who wants to save the world” it might actually be perfect for you. If you’re a woman, a person of color, or appreciate being trusted to do your work, it’s likely that you’ll discover within a few months that you’ve been gaslit, lied to, traumatized by the very people who insist that love is the answer to all the problems in the world. If you raise a differing opinion from the founders you will be thrown under the bus. If you go to HR you will be treated like you’re the enemy who isn’t doing what’s best for the organization. And any problem you have personally, professionally, or with the way things are being run is never going to be as bad as war, so it’s not worth bringing to the table. It’s an extremely toxic culture that persists because of the charismatic executive leadership and refusal of other leadership to rock the boat. All that glitters is not gold.
