Pros
Miami Valley Hospital is the "best" or "only" in the entire region in many categories. Despite an enourmous number of employees, senior executives routinely "round" the hospital to interact with employees. MVH promotes from within and encourgages employee development. MVH takes all actions and makes decisions with a "patients first" mentality. The hospital is a leader in the community and engages in a lot of great outreach activities. Wage increases are by merit and not senority, so good job performance is rewarded. The hospital attracts many top physicians.
Cons
The food in the main cafeteria is mediocre and expensive, even with an employee discount. Surface lot parking is a short walking distance until employees gain a few years senority and access to a parking garage. Sometimes decisions are made based on the many established policies and procedures without much human judgement used on the pariculars of the situation. For the year 2010, pay was frozen but the hospital continues to engage heavily in marketing and capital expenditures.
