Pros

The mission is compelling: preventing crime in real-time is a value proposition that matters. Some passionate, talented individuals at the ground level who care deeply about doing good work. Opportunities to learn crisis management, cross-functional politics, and rapid problem solving — fast. If you want to stress-test your leadership skills, this is a masterclass in resilience.

Cons

Toxic leadership dynamics at the executive level. Top executives often lead through fear, not inspiration. There is little transparency, and communication is frequently reactive, dismissive, or punitive. This creates a culture of blame and defensiveness rather than growth and accountability. Internal promotions are rare. Despite strong talent within the org, executive leadership consistently favors external hires with “pedigree” backgrounds more for optics during a potential sale than long-term team development. This erodes trust, limits career growth, and fuels attrition. Strategic direction shifts without warning or meaningful input from the people closest to the customer or the problem. Decision-making is highly centralized but inconsistently enforced. Some issues get micromanaged while others fall through the cracks entirely. Sales and CS teams are routinely set up to fail due to poor cross-functional alignment and a lack of investment in scalable processes. Burnout is normalized. Success often depends on working around the system instead of within it. Training and onboarding are incomplete and uneven. Knowledge is tribal, and the burden to "figure it out" is placed on new hires. Pockets of strong talent exist, but morale is frequently undermined by leadership behavior and lack of trust.

Pros

The company has talented individuals across both the U.S. and international teams, and there is genuine potential in the organization’s technology environment. Exposure to a wide variety of infrastructure systems, surveillance operations technology, and cloud platforms provided a broad operational perspective. There were also opportunities to collaborate with colleagues across multiple regions, which can be valuable for professionals who enjoy working in a distributed environment and supporting mission-critical operations.

Cons

There appeared to be significant accumulated technical debt across portions of the infrastructure environment, including aging hardware and systems that were overdue for refresh cycles. In some cases, responsibilities between teams were not always clearly defined, particularly between U.S. infrastructure support and global IT leadership. This sometimes created uncertainty around ownership of systems, access permissions, and long-term modernization initiatives. Efforts to address infrastructure upgrades or replace aging equipment often moved slowly, which could impact performance in operational environments such as the surveillance operations center. Greater clarity around decision authority, system ownership, and administrative access would likely improve efficiency and allow local administrators to resolve issues more quickly.
