Pros
When you have work you do have a lot of it and it can be challenging and fun. Projects can last for a few days or weeks or months depending what you’re doing. Great locations to work and you do meet some great people. Travel authority with south western railway.
Cons
Most of management are foreign. Very rude with telephone manner. Have to confirm shift 2 hours in advance via an app they use. If you don’t they call you (say an early shift at say 5am, they call you at 1am in the morning!! Some have called colleagues about covering an afternoon shift in the early hours!!) and they shout at you to confirm. Try and email someone and they take days to reply if not longer. Don’t answer phone messages and when they do respond they’re angry at you for trying to contact them! Their manners and inter-personal skills need to be improved! Plus they call on a London number and call centre is located in Romania! London based team don’t respond unless they feel the need to. No travel authority with GWR for their assignments. No travel passes or travel allowance. So what you pay you don’t get back. That needs to be addressed.
