Pros

Incredible coworkers who genuinely care about the mission and support one another Great perks and generous time‑off policies

Cons

In my opinion, the core issue continues to be the lack of experienced leadership at the C Suite level. Over multiple years of layoffs, it has been noticeable that executives with meaningful experience are often the ones let go, while the same 3 C Suite Executives with little to no prior experience in running a company consistently remain. That pattern has contributed to repeated restructuring and layoffs year after year. The most recent reduction affected a very large portion of the company, including many talented, high‑performing employees. Several individuals who had been recognized with cultural or performance awards were included in the cuts, which speaks to deeper strategic problems rather than employee performance

We really appreciate you sharing your perspective. Feedback from former teammates helps us reflect and continue improving as we build the next chapter of Prodigy for educators, students, and the teams who support them. We recognize the past few years have included some difficult period change as the company has responded to challenges - some within our control, others outside of them. Decisions that affect people’s roles are never taken lightly, and we understand how those moments can shape how someone reflects on their time at a company. In terms of leadership, it’s important to stress that our current Co-CEOs have led Prodigy for almost 15 years, and in that time have grown it from a simple university project into a leader in game-based learning. That’s not to say that every decision has been perfect or correct, although all strategic moves are planned with the best of intentions and with the information available at the time, supported by an experienced Board of Directors and company Senior Leadership Team. It’s also important to us that recognition and performance remain meaningful. Many of the individuals recognized through our culture value awards continue to play an important role in the company today, and we remain deeply proud of the people who contribute to building Prodigy every day. Thank you again for the very constructive feedback, and we wish you every success in the future.
