Pros

Paid holiday, decent health insurance

Cons

Conflicts of interest within the organization, disconnected CEO, extremely lonely work environment, no cost of living or merit raises, retaliation for disabilities acquired on the job, little to no safety precautions for employees, no sick time, no training for safely managing children, inequitable programming for immigrants and Hispanic residents, no stance on ICE, only three days of EAP program per year, no implicit bias training, CEO gives herself a $10,000 to $13,000 raise each year despite employees living pay check to paycheck, blanant disregard for employee wellbeing, punitive action for situations out of employees control (like low attendance when ICE is on the property), absolutely no transparency, constant firings of long-standing employees who point out ethical concerns, extreme burnout and compassion fatigue met with no empathy or assistance, CEO who is extremely out of touch and would rather respond with ChatGPT than write a single sentence on her own, little to no upward mobility.

Pros

As a manager I was supported in making decisions that impacted the organization and programs. The work is rewarding and impactful. It was one of the few jobs where everyone at the org had a good heart and truly wanted each other to succeed. I found working alongside developers and co-workers rewarding but supporting my team and watching them grow into strong innovative professionals was my favorite part.

Cons

Hiring in some areas was difficult

Pros

Paid holidays and good regional managers

Cons

Senior leadership is terrible They make decisions without thinking anything through and how it affects field staff. Regional managers are constantly being blamed and having to face the terrible senior leadership team. Employee morale is extremely low. Leadership does not care about field employees. Some resource centers get ZERO support and no advice on getting partners and begging for in kind donations. Overall the worst job I’ve ever worked in my life.
