Pros
The pay is better than average. given that the product doesn’t sell and half the customers are churning you get paid a lot to not do much.
Cons
Where do I start? - Customer churn is nearly 100%. If you’re interviewing here, please ask about churn during your interview. I wish I did. The numbers are abysmal, probably 50 percent or more. The try to frame this as though it’s because the product changed directions, but it didn’t… - Bizarre company culture. The CEO town halls on several occasions were the CEO sitting there asking us to ask him questions… why am I on this meeting again wasting my time? - Zero new business. I think there were three new deals sold in the time I was there? - Any request to engineering takes days to get a vague response. Everyone asked about this over and over and they just say “they’re really busy”. And lastly - the product is just bad. The second a customer experiences any friction with it, they will do what they were doing in Databricks instead because Prophecy barely offers any benefit over it. Open source code means they can switch whenever they want. No revenue for usage, so you constantly have to try to get people to use it, and given that it isn’t a great product you’re fighting an uphill battle. Prophecy 4.0 feature functionality is not even discernible from the marketing materials posted… because it doesn’t really do anything.
