Pros
Please keep in mind that the following review is for the LAGUNA BEACH Mission Campus, NOT the Mission Viejo Campus. I have been working as a per diem RN there for almost a year and I really enjoy it. I have worked for another large medical organization before, and this one is superior. Mission treats its employees well and there are so many wonderful opportunities for advancement and variety, especially if you are a nurse. I have only gotten cancelled twice. The managers and charge nurses are very nice. The behavioral health and chemical dependency unit are very interesting and educational places to work. They pay a float differential. They pay for your education such as BLS and ACLS, and they pay you for attending meetings. The organization is big on educating staff on the importance of patient perception and satisfaction. They emphasize compassion and caring, which is what health care is all about. The med-surg unit is also nice because it's relatively small and there is good team work going on.
Cons
The biggest con is that there is NO resource nurse, at least during the shifts I work. No one can really cover your lunch break. They need to fix that big time. Also their computer system, Meditech, has some really big flaws. But I can't really complain because it works fairly well once you get used to its quirks. Pay is not the highest, but good enough. (I make more than $500 per shift).
