Pros

Opportunity to provide services in the least restrictive setting for the client, ability to create your own schedule, free supervision, overall positive company culture in the office. Excellent if you are passionate about social justice issues and are not afraid to work with high-risk, multi-problem clients and families.

Cons

Yes you can create your own schedule, but you will still be working 12 hour days during the school year because say you start at 8:30 for your earliest client, then some schools don't allow therapists in so you can't see x number of clients until they get home, then you have the clients whose parents get home after 6. Scheduling and accommodating clients can be a nightmare and the pressure to make it to 26 hour "service delivery" is debilitating at times. Also, yes supervision is free but it's more focused on administrative tasks as opposed to exploring clinical and process-oriented issues.

Pros

Great environment to work in with supervisors who were always willing to help if asked. The flexibility was amazing. At first clients were located all over Miami so that you could build your caseload up but once you were at the agency for a few months you could trade them out and maintain one area. This way you weren't driving around all day. Human resources was always willing to assist with anything and the CEO is amazing! Each morning he would email an inspiring quote that would make you feel good about the job you are doing. Every month each department has an employee of the month which is great for moral.

Cons

The first three months are hard. Since you're still in training and building a caseload, you make little money because you bill by the hrs billed. If you don't have cases you can't bill for fulltime work. Once your caseload is full you're fine and you make a decent wage. Admin hourly wage is pretty low and you do a decent amount of admin time.
