Pros

Good location of central Albuquerque. The staff are some of the best people I have met.

Cons

New management has brought down integrity of the firm. They rely heavily on the staff to do all work even if the staff has little to no guidance on the project. There is little to no training. You figure it out on your own. There is no communication on personal performance. Once yearly performance evaluations are the only time you get “reviewed” and even then it is hard to get feedback. HR is no help when there are issues. It is blown off like nothing ever happened.

Pros

I learned so much from my tax internship with Pulakos. We were able to prepare a wide range of returns—business and individual. They gave me a returning offer — and the only reason I did not accept was timing. I wanted to explore other options before graduating.

Cons

I have no cons, I loved working at Pulakos.

Pros

Location, the office is in central Albuquerque. Starting pay is similar to market standards.

Cons

Lack of training and staff support, there is no formal training and no one is interested in how you're growing professionally. Coaching conversations occur after you do something they do not agree with. There are no conversations about long or short term goals. Management and partners are bombarded with work and don’t see training or staff support as a priority. The accounting services department is understaffed, overworked and tasks are not reviewed. The tax and audit departments have high turnover rates due to lack of training and support. Audit is now an all male, rookie staff. Tax is constantly behind and workloads are extreme. HR department ignores obvious issues and takes a passive approach when dealing with internal matters. Unprofessional behaviors are often tolerated. No 401k matching or profit sharing. Bonuses appear to be lower than market standards.
