Pros
Some of the people there are nice & passionate about their work. Can be exciting working on high profile jobs.
Cons
Exclusive ‘in-crew’ vibe with a distinct hierarchy system & embedded favouritism. If you don’t fit in and suck up to the right people then you will be left by the wayside. Retaliatory behaviour from the top down and people with poor management abilities running high up positions. Being honest about your experience to managers will only make it worse. General mantra of ‘you should be grateful for anything we ask you to do/this is just what the industry is like’. This means that there is no indication that you can say no when asked to do tasks below your remit by people who essentially have your career in their hands. Seems like there is an attitude of ‘we’re too cool to bother with that’ which means managers do not initiate formal conversations about career progression & payment and you’re made to feel bad/ungrateful for bringing it up yourself. There is little interest in individual career progression - very much a one size fits all approach which means that if you join at a junior level prior experience won’t be taken into account.
