Pros
For an online university, PG offers a great sense of community for their faculty with virtual conferences across departments, a literary festival open to all faculty and most/all students, regular department meetings and other chances to converse and connect.
Cons
The workload is intense and the pay incommensurate with the hours faculty must put into grading across multiple fronts--journals, discussion boards, unit assignments, seminars--and writing to students on the DBs and replying to their emails within 24 business hours. Annual raises are modest at best. The review process does not encourage exceptional teaching, only average--because it is all but impossible, no matter how many glowing reviews you get from students, stellar presentations you deliver internally and externally, etc., to be rated higher than a 3 out of 5.
