Pros

Occasional free drinks in city locations Friendly staff No prior IT knowledge required... Better than being unemployed

Cons

The HR in this company is awful. Staff members that are meant to be the bridge between consultant and management never give any crucial information when asked. Dedicated HR members take weeks to reply to even the simplest of emails. QAC have no sense of acknowledgement or appraisal. They like to rate their employees on scales with bars that are impossible to reach, and would rather spend money giving them cheap drinks than increasing their measly salaries. Working at QAC has drained all excitement and self-confidence that I had in myself. They make you feel ignored and useless, while promoting more executives to made up roles just to increase the wage gap in the company even more. And then there's the 12K leaving fee which covers the cost of training that could be more extensively taught by a dog with a suit on. There are free online courses that contain more information than the training course. Leaving QAC felt like escaping a swamp; you get constantly dragged down, there's a foul stench in the air and you end up with less than you started with.

QA Response

We appreciate your feedback, and assure you that we do take your comments seriously. It is an unusual response time frame you mention from our HR department (we respond to all queries within 48 hours), but appreciate this must have been frustrating for you. We would however always advise that you call using the direct number provided for a quicker response rate and to discuss any issues with one of our specialists who are always on hand. Although we do have a formal review and development process which is led by line managers, we do encourage all staff to take a proactive approach too; highlighting the opportunities you would like to take up and how you would like to progress within the business so that they can support you in this and put a plan in place. Regarding the training fee, the business makes a significant investment in those who join, allowing you to become qualified and ready to work onsite at high profile clients in a timeframe which would not be possible outside of this programme. As we are sure you can appreciate, to provide this to you we do require those on the programme to commit to QA for a period of time. This is by no means a leaving fee and we do make the details of this clear at point of offer. We appreciate the time you have taken to provide your feedback to us, and we hope our comments offer some reassurance. We wish you the best of luck in your career.

Pros

The skills platform developed by the former Cloud Academy team was innovative and well-received by customers.

Cons

Since my voluntary departure, the company has proven to be unreliable and somewhat cagey. Under the terms of their articles of association and ISD, they had 12 months to repurchase my preferred shares. Nearly 18 months have passed, and they refuse to repurchase my shares or communicate any reasons for the delay. One might conclude that they are dealing with financial difficulties.
