Pros
You get to do things at a big, national scale. Being inside this important industry is wonderful, the product is good and held in high regard, the company mission is on point and a net positive for the world.
Cons
The co-founders micromanage the team in areas they know nothing about, and do not trust their team members’ expertise or strong advice. Unrealistic expectations and constantly changing goalposts are just the beginning. Siloisation and poor utilization of staff skills is also an ongoing issue. An alarming number of skilled hires leave quickly. A major reason for that is that repeatedly the job is quite different from that advertised - feedback that has been ignored. Meetings with leadership (going back all the way to my first interview) are unprofessional as a rule. The CEO needs to work on learning to “read the room” and be focussed on the meeting agenda.
