Pros

You can work from home, coworkers are helpful.

Cons

R1 had a merger several years ago with CloudMed. We are still feeling the fall out. There is a big disconnect from leadership and upper management as to the direction and goals of the company. We rarely hear anything. Productivity has just been raised again. The work pace is fast, You have to pivot on a moments notice and for all the extra work there is nothing more than a thank you. Many workers put in extra time off shift to meet productivity standards. Sadly it feels that all the company cares about is the amount of work they can squeeze until the employee can’t take it anymore. Turn over is high. Minimal paid holidays, no floating holiday. Must schedule time off way in advance.

Pros

The voluntary separation offer was good.

Cons

I and hundreds of colleagues were transferred from Providence Health & Services to R1. We were told we were guaranteed our jobs for a year. They started offering voluntary separation packages less than a year in. This was suspicious. I didn't take the first couple of offers, but eventually I did - things were feeling uneasy. Since leaving I've heard that there were several layoffs. R1's India team has taken over a lot of the coding we were doing. In the reviews I read before we started with R1 I know losing jobs to the India team was common. I'm glad I left when I did but it's been hard finding a new job.
